Private=Public featured six artists who “are active in both public art projects and private studio practice and the connections- physical, stylistic and conceptual - between the two modes of working.” The work in the show was a look at how we each work out ideas in the studio for our public projects. I used the space to begin to explore formal considerations of my current project. While the experience felt very vulnerable, the opportunity was incredibly useful (e.g. the large graphic forms – taken from the textiles I work with - were too overpowering for the delicacy of the paper quilling; however I really like the qulling forms and colors). I also appreciated that it gave viewers a glimpse into our processes - the successes and failures.
