Megan Wilson grew up in Montana. She received her BFA from the University of Oregon in 1992 and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1997. Her work has been exhibited in San Francisco at Southern Exposure, the San Francisco Art Commission, Clarion Alley, ampersand international arts, Stephen Wirtz Gallery, gallery 3, ATA, The Lab, Meridian Gallery, and in public spaces throughout San Francisco; in Los Angeles at the Richard Heller Gallery; and internationally in Tokyo, Japan; Yogyakarta, Indonesia; Paris, France; and Jaipur, India. Wilson is a recipient of a 2000 grant award from the Gunk Foundation, a 2001 grant award fromthe Art Council/Artadia, and an Individual Artist Commission grant award in 2005/06 from the San Francisco Arts Commission. In 2002, she was selected to design posters for the San Francisco Art Commission's Market Street Art in Transit poster series. She is also a freelance writer and art critic. In 2000-2001 she was a weekly contributing arts writer for the SF Bay Guardian. She co-founded the San Francisco based arts Website Her writings have appeared in afterimage, Digitalcity,and Public Art Review. From 2000 - 2004, she was the co-director of the Clarion Alley Mural Project. In 2002-03 she initiated, curated, co-directed and participated in Sama-sama/Together, an international exchange project between artists from San Francisco and Apotik Komik of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The catalog for the project, Sama-sama/Together An International Exchange Project between Yogyakarta-San Francisco was published in May 2006 and is currently available through Intersection for the Arts. Additionally, the catalogue for Swell - Ten Years Later is available at She is currently working on her project Forever Summer that was started in 2004 and will be completed in 2007, thanks to a generous Individual Artist Commission Grant from the San Francisco Arts Commission. In 2007 Wilson will also have a solo show at Tin Lark Gallery in Los Angeles, be part of Wall Works 3 at Traywick Contemporary, participate in the international exchange project Galleon Trade in Manila Philippines curated and directed by Jenifer K. Wofford, be one of the artists featued in The Fire Horse at The Luggage Store, and will do a three-month residency at Antena Projects in Yogyakarta Indonesia.
